From humble cucumber beginnings

The Duris Farm is run by Tom and Patty Duris and their daughters, Katie and Sarah along the banks of the Puyallup River. The Duris Family began farming the Puyallup Valley in 1955 when their mother, Hazel, began growing cucumbers and selling the extras on the side of the road. The money earned from Hazel’s hobby paid for the children’s school clothes, a Singer sewing machine and allowed the family to plant a third of an acre the following year.

While the farm has grown a bit since its humble beginnings, it’s still very family-oriented with all five children contributing to the farm’s activities. Duris Farm still specializes in pickling cucumbers along with an assortment of other fresh fruits and vegetables on 300 fertile acres.
