Melissa and Mark Moeller started their chicken raising career in 2005 with three hens that gave them a dozen eggs a week. Today they have over 2,000 chickens on their 18 acre farm. The Moellers consider their chickens pasture-raised rather than free-range. In their pasture the chickens have grass to run around on and shelters to stay warm and dry. These happy chickens spend most of their day eating grass, digging for bugs, giving themselves dust baths, and all around living a fulfilling life.
The Moeller’s Misty Meadows Farm, in Everson, received the title of Best Farm in Washington State for Humane Animal Practices from Cornucopia Institute. Mother Earth News included Misty Meadow Farm eggs in a 2007 study that compared the nutritional value of pasture-raised eggs vs. conventional eggs. The study found that Misty Meadow Farms pasture-raised eggs have 3 1/2 times more Vitamin E, 4 times more healthy Omega-3s, 1/3 less cholesterol and 1/3 less saturated fat than conventional eggs.
We are very excited to offer these superior quality and farm fresh eggs at our Meridian and Barkley stores.
